- Can I connect external Pt-100 or Pt-1000 temperature probes to HWg-STE plus?
No, external Pt100 and Pt1000 probes are connected using the Converter 2xPt100 1W-UNI. This converter cannot be used with Poseidon1 products or HWg-STE (HWg-STE PoE) and HWg-STE plus web thermometers. - Can I use the converter with only one Pt-1000 or Pt-100 probe?
Yes. The second probe will either read as -999.9 (indication of disconnected sensor) or turn off automatically. - Is there a difference between 2-wire and 4-wire connection of the external temperature probe?
Yes, 4-wire connection allows the most accurate measurement. The difference is noticeable especially with longer wires. - I have an external sensor connected but Poseidon2 shows weird values (5000 °C and so on). What is the problem?
Double-check the wiring and connection of the Pt-100 or Pt-1000 probe, according to the manual. Are the jumpers for unused terminals properly in place? - Can I connect any Pt-100 or Pt-1000 probe?
Yes. You can use a genuine HW group PT100 probe, or any other Pt100 or Pt1000 temperature probe.
Temperature measurement with Pt100 and Pt1000 over the Ethernet
- A Pt100 probe is connected to the "Converter 2xPt100 1W-UNI" using 3 wires.
- A Pt1000 probe is connected to the "Converter 2xPt100 1W-UNI" using 2 wires.
- The converter is connected to a Poseidon2 3266 remote monitoring LAN unit over the 1-Wire UNI (RJ11) bus.
- "Converter 2xPt100 1W-UNI" counts as two sensors in the Poseidon2 3266 unit.
- The converter is powered from the 1-Wire UNI bus (RJ11). Additional sensors can be daisy-chained to this sensor.
- Poseidon2 3266 displays the Pt100 and Pt1000 temperatures in its web interface. Temperature units – [°C] / [°K] / [°F] – can be configured.
- Poseidon2 3266 sends an e-mail or a text message (SMS) when a temperature is outside of a specified "SafeRange".
- Poseidon2 3266 shares data over the LAN using SNMP, XML (http) and Modbus/TCP.
- Poseidon2 3266 can be connected to the SensDesk.com online portal.
- Sensor readings can be displayed using an Android or iOS (Apple) app for tablets or mobile phones.
Temperature measurement with Pt1000 over GSM
- A Pt1000 probe is connected to the "Converter 2xPt100 1W-UNI" using 2 wires.
- "Converter 2xPt100 1W-UNI" is connected to an Ares 12 – GSM remote measurement unit.
- The converter is powered from the 1-Wire UNI bus (RJ11). Additional sensors can be daisy-chained to this sensor.
- An additional outdoor temperature and humidity sensor is connected to the Ares unit, too.
- The internal Ares battery provides back-up power to both sensors.
- Ares 12 is a GSM/GPRS unit for remote measurement and monitoring.
- Ares 12 sends an e-mail or a text message (SMS) when a temperature is outside of a specified "SafeRange".
- Temperature units – [°C] / [°K] / [°F] – can be configured in the Ares 12.
- Ares 12 can be connected to the SensDesk.com online portal.
